Stone in Kidney: Treatment and Prevention


The stone related kidney diseases are the most common kidney disease.1 person out of each 20 person having the problem of stone in kidney. The size of stone can be small grain to tennis ball. In maximum cases, the small stones come out from body through urine. But those which create symptoms need have proper treatment. In maximum cases, the patient do not need any type of surgery. Now a days, it is even possible to prevent the incidents of having stone in kidney.

Who Largely Affected By Stone In Kidney Problem

The males are having more risk than females to have stone in their kidney. The ratio between male and female having this problem is 3:1. The risk of having stone in kidney for males started to raise after the age of 50. But this disease can be happened in any time of the life. At the next level, some tests are needed to properly diagnosis the situation of the patient. Among those tests, we can mention the name of the following tests: X-ray and Ultra Sound Test. In many cases, the stones in kidney create no sound. If their is no visible symptoms, then we need to do Ultra sonogram to identify stones in the kidney.

In Third Stag, it is needed to identify the status of kidney by the examination of blood and urine. If required, we need to do HUV X-Ray to identify the right location of the stones for the right treatment.

In Forth stage, we need to measure the quantity of Calcium, Uric Acid and Systin from urine of 24 hours. This examination basically helps to prevent the disease.

Treatment of Stone in Kidney Through Therapy

Surgery is required if the size of the stone is so large that their is no way to come out from urine. Moreover, if infection of urine is happening continuously, then their is the possibility to have permanent damage of the kidney. Prevention: The Best Way

Basically, by incorporating change in food habit and life style, we can prevent ourselves from such kidney disease. It is very important to identify different components of urine by doing chemical analysis of stone and examination of blood and urine. The following things can be done to prevent:
  • Need to drink additional quantity of water.
  • Previously, it was thought that calcium related foods are creating the threat of having stone in kidney. But in recent research program, it has been identified calcium foods are not the reason of having stone in kidney. But it has been discouraged to take calcium tablet and vitamin D tablet to those patients who have stone in their kidney.
  • Those who have stone in kidney for one time need to avoid vitamin D containing foods.
  • Avoid meat, fish and poultry foods.
  • Do not take additional salt with the food.
